Re “Buttigieg’s Visit Reveals Rifts Within Fox” (Business Day, May 21):

Fox News’s hosting of Democratic candidates demonstrates that it is willing to promote bipartisanship and interparty discussion on at least some level. I think that President Trump views Fox News as one of his only allies in the media; he expresses paranoia about “fake news” regularly, but praises Fox News for its largely favorable view of him.

Because of this, he probably views this acceptance of Democratic candidates as more of a personal betrayal than he should.

Personally, I believe that Fox News deserves kudos for displaying a willingness to represent both sides of the political coin. The fact that President Trump is offended by Pete Buttigieg’s appearance further demonstrates that he values praise and supporters over discussion and bipartisanship.
