Two women have been charged with prostitution offences after a police operation in the greater Belfast area. A 57-year-old woman has appeared in a Belfast court charged with controlling prostitution.
Two alleged victims of human trafficking for prostitution were rescued by police during the operation. The charge is linked to the police rescue of two women believed to be the victims of human trafficking.
A 57-year-old woman has been charged with controlling prostitution and is to appear in court on Saturday. On Saturday, Sook Cheng Wong from Tates Avenue, Belfast, spoke through an interpreter only to confirm she understood the charge against her.
A 46-year-old female has been charged with controlling prostitution and money laundering and is to appear in court on 23 December. A second woman is to appear in court in December on charges of controlling prostitution and money laundering.
A number of addresses in the south Belfast were raided by police. Police also seized £25,000 in cash in the operation in the greater Belfast area.
It is understood £25,000 was seized.
