The third lane of the M1/Westlink has opened in Belfast with a promise that motorists should notice a drop in their journey times.

The lane runs between the city's Stockman's Lane and the Grosvenor Road.

This is the latest stage in the £104m road re-development scheme which began in January 2006.

The Road Service said that motorists should see a significant decrease in journey times despite the fact that this is a busy time of year.
