"We kind of got wind that the president would be playing all 18 holes," Ms O'Mahony told Irish national broadcaster RTÉ. "It wasn't planned, we are the nearest school to the golf course", Ms O'Mahony told BBC News NI.
"The ninth hole is just adjacent to my parent's land - I'm local here. "We heard that he was playing the full 18 holes so we decided to get the children into the cars and up to the green beside the course."
"We decided to take the children to the hillside near the ninth green. She added: "We saw him coming up the fairway, he waved to the children and they were delighted to get a wave from him."
"As he was coming up the ninth fairway, he waved to the children and we were waiting on the hillside, and then one of the secret service came over to us and said 'the president would like to meet the teachers'. The school children sang a verse of My Lovely Rose of Clare for Mr Trump, before he went down to meet them all.
"There were four members of staff there, so the four of us went up on to the tee box and he shook hands with us and he spoke to us." One pupil said that Donald Trump asked the class whether there were any future presidents there and whether or not they liked golf.
Ms O'Mahony said the children were "absolutely gobsmacked" by their encounter with the US president.
