| The FBI director told the Senate judiciary committee that China presents the most serious counterintelligence threat to the US. When asked by Republican chairman Lindsey Graham who would be the second-most serious, Wray replied, “Probably Russia.” | |
| “There is no country that poses a more severe counterintelligence threat to this country right now than China,” Wray told the panel. While emphasizing that he was not talking about the Chinese people as a whole or Chinese-Americans, Wray said the Chinese government was using its own tools and private-sector companies to “steal their way up the economic ladder at our expense.” | |
| He added that the Russians are still “absolutely” intent on interfering in US elections. “Until they’re stopped, they haven’t been deterred enough,” Wray said of the many measures used to try to stop Russian interference. | |
