A 26-year-old man was arrested in April and re-arrested in August on suspicion of murder.
He remains on police bail pending further enquiries, a spokeswoman for North Wales Police said.
Officers made enquiries in Indonesia, where she had planned to travel in February 2008, but there is no evidence to suggest she left the UK.
Police said she had been in Wrexham for 11 years and lived alone but had a close circle of friends.
On the day she disappeared, she sent a text message to a friend arranging to meet at lunch time on 5 January.
But she failed to turn up and her friend later raised the alarm.
