Elderly man dies in car accident Pensioner killed in crash named

A 70-year-old man has died after the car he was driving collided with a van in Ballymartin, County Down. Police have released the name of a 79-year-old man who died after the car he was driving was in collision with a van in County Down.
The accident, between a Ford Fiesta and a Volkswagen van, happened shortly before 1400 GMT on Friday on the Annalong Road. He was Charles Annett, from Ballymartin in Kilkeel.
The man died at the scene. It is understood the driver of the van, a man in his 50s, was not seriously injured. The crash, involving a Ford Fiesta and a Volkswagen van, happened shortly before 1400 GMT on Friday on the Annalong Road in Ballymartin.
The road has reopened. Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact police. Mr Annett died at the scene. The driver of the van is not believed to have been seriously injured.
Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them.
