Police are searching for two men over the murder of a 20-year-old man shot dead in west London on Christmas Eve.

Craig Brown was shot in Loftus Road, Shepherd's Bush, on Wednesday afternoon after returning from a shopping trip.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by the ambulance service. A post-mortem examination will take place later.

The Metropolitan Police said the attackers shot Mr Brown as he unloaded his car, before making off on foot towards Queens Park Rangers FC.

No arrests have been made.

Tauseef Hussain, who owns the local supermarket, Supreme Food and Wine, on the corner of Loftus Road, described the shooting as "shocking".

The 22-year-old added: "To be honest, I never expected this kind of thing to happen around here.

"I have spoken to a couple of people who are shocked and nervous by what has happened."

London Mayor Boris Johnson said he was "saddened and appalled" at the death of the victim on Christmas Eve.

The police confirmed that the shooting was being investigated by Operation Trident, a police team dedicated to tackling gun crime within the black community.

They are appealing for witnesses and ask anyone with any information to contact them.
