Authorities say the spread of the fire has been halted but there is still a possible risk to lives and homes in the area as conditions could change.

The blaze was sparked by vehicle fire on Wednesday night and has burnt through more than 65 hectares.
The fire started near the intersection of Yangedi and Lakes roads, and residents bounded by Readheads Road were at risk. Residents in the area have been warned they are in danger and need to leave if the way is clear. If they are unable to leave, they must prepare to shelter in their home.

The shire of Murray has opened up a temporary evacuation centre at Murray Aquatic and Leisure Centre, at 16 Camp Road in Pinjarra. Residents are advised: “Only essential items can be taken into these centres.
