Prison fire under investigation

An investigation is being carried out into a fire at Magilligan Prison in County Londonderry on Sunday night.

Part of the dining room was damaged in the blaze, which was discovered at about 1800 GMT.

Prison governor Tom Wood said police and fire officers were investigating how the fire started.

"Fortunately last night our procedures worked very well and the staff and the fire service were also magnificent," said Mr Wood.
