Version 0 of 1.

Two people have died in grenade attacks by Tuareg rebels in Mali's northern city of Gao, the authorities say.

A servant was killed in the home of a local official and another man was seriously wounded in the house of a prominent member of Mali's parliament.

One attacker died when a grenade exploded in his hand before he could throw it into the home of the head of a government development agency.

The rebels want more resources spent in the Sahara Desert in northern Mali.

Last month at least 20 people died in a Tuareg rebel attack on a military base in northern Mali, in the first major clash since a Libyan-mediated peace deal was signed in July.

The Tuaregs, a historically nomadic people living in the Sahara and Sahel regions of North Africa, want greater autonomy.

Tuareg militant groups in neighbouring Mali and Niger have been engaged in sporadic armed struggles for several decades.
