Surveillance video shows the 24-hour diner was decorated with a ribbon-wrapped tree, silver garland and a bouquet of red bells. The suspects, dressed in jeans and tennis shoes along with their dark jackets, walked past the decorations raising their weapons. Police said they demanded that those inside get on the ground and give up their cellphones and wallets. People complied — but the shooter fired at one man anyway. The man was hospitalized with serious injuries but is expected to survive. At Denny’s on the night following Christmas, 23 customers and staff were inside.
