Explosives-making charges after Southmead homes evacuated

Daniel Magee, 38, of Shetland Road, Southmead, Bristol, was arrested on Saturday after an Army bomb disposal team was called to the scene. At Bristol Magistrates' Court he faced charges of making the explosive nitro-glycerine for an unlawful purpose. He was also charged with possessing three Tasers and a sword and importing other weapons. Mr Magee was remanded in custody to appear before the city's crown court next month. Homes were evacuated on Saturday and Sunday when police set up a 50-metre cordon around the property, which is near Southmead Hospital. Police said searches would continue at the property on Monday. |
