Man dies in ‘workplace accident’ in McLean, police say Construction worker dies after being struck by rebar in McLean, police say

A man died Monday morning in what authorities are calling a “workplace accident” in McLean. A construction worker died Monday morning after he was hit by rebar that fell while being hoisted by a crane in McLean, Fairfax County police said.
The man’s name was not immediately released, pending the notification of his family. Nelson Aguilar-Salamanca, 55, of Maryland, was working as a sub-contractor at a construction site in the 1600 block of Capital One Drive where he was struck around 7:30 a.m., police said.
Fairfax County police said the incident happened in the 1600 block of Capitol One Drive, near the Beltway and Tysons. In a Twitter message, police said the man was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. Aguilar-Salamanca was taken to a hospitial, where he died from his injuries. A Virginia medical examiner is performing an autopsy to confirm the cause of his death.
The incident is under investigation. Other details weren’t immediately released. No other injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
