The fire service was called to the mid-terrace property in Albert Road in Sheffield on Friday night. Another two people who managed to escape from the mid-terrace property by climbing through windows are critically ill in hospital, police said.
Two people died at the scene and two others were taken to hospital where they are in a serious condition. About 25 firefighters were sent to the the house in Albert Road, Sheffield, which was well alight on their arrival.
One person has been arrested. Police said details of those who died would not be released until family members had been informed. South Yorkshire Police said two people had been arrested in connection with the fire on Friday night.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said about 25 firefighters were sent to the scene and when crews arrived, the fire was well ablaze.
