Over 140 people were treated at Wrexham's Maelor hospital in a single day, with many injuries due to falls. Glan Clwyd Hospital saw 231 casualties in the 24 hour period to midnight on Monday.
Officials there said they had seen a large increase in the number of patients needing orthopaedic treatment. Wrexham Maelor Hospital saw 212 patients during a 24-hours to 1500 GMT.
For both hospitals the usual average daily figure is around 150-170 patients.
