Witnesses said Ms Koune, believed to be a teacher at a local school, had desperately tried to reverse her car off the tracks but was trapped by closing barriers.
The driver and passenger in the van told police they tried to go to her aid but could not get to her before the train reached the crossing.
The car was badly damaged by the impact and was pushed some distance up the track.
Lincolnshire Police and British Transport Police have started an investigation into the incident.
