The two-car crash occurred about 1:30 a.m., near the intersection of Route 355 and Plummer Drive. The crash caused a car carrying four people to be pushed into the carport of a nearby home, where it caught fire, Pete Piringer, a spokesman for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue, said on Twitter. Police identified the victim as Resham Lal, 51, of Germantown.
An initial investigation by police found that Lal, who was driving a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta, was making a left turn onto Plummer Drive from Frederick Road when he struck a 2013 Toyota Scion FR-S that was traveling south on Frederick Road. Lal was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash, which occured around 1:30 a.m., caused the Toyota, which was carrying four people, to be pushed into the carport of a nearby home, where it caught fire, according to Pete Piringer, a spokesman for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.
