Teen cleared of schoolboy murder

One of the five people on trial over the murder of a Ballymena schoolboy has been cleared of murder.

Michael McIlveen, 15, died after being attacked in the town in May 2006.

A 17-year-old, who cannot be named as he is still a juvenile, was formally found "not guilty" after he pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage.

The trial of the four other men accused of the murder is continuing. A fifth defendant faces charges of affray and criminal damage.

Earlier in the trial, 20-year-old Mervyn Wilson Moon, of Douglas Terrace in Ballymena, pleaded guilty to murder.
