Five people have been killed in a shooting at the Milwaukee campus of Molson Coors, one of the world’s largest brewers of beer, according to Donald Trump. An employee opened fire at the Milwaukee campus of Molson Coors on Wednesday, killing five fellow workers before taking his own life, police said.
The city’s mayor, Tom Barrett, said there had been multiple fatalities including the shooter, but he did not give an exact number of people killed in Wednesday’s shooting. Milwaukee police said the number of casualties had not been confirmed. Police identified the man responsible for the shooting at one of the world’s largest brewers of beer as a 51-year-old Milwaukee man who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“It is a horrible, horrible day for the employees here. A very rough day for anyone who is close to this situation,” he told reporters. “There were five individuals who went to work today, just like everybody goes to work, and they thought they were going to go to work, finish their day and return to their families. They didn’t and tragically they never will,” the Milwaukee mayor, Tom Barrett, said.
Speaking at a White House press conference on the coronavirus outbreak, Trump said the shooting had taken the “lives of five people”. Authorities offered no immediate motive for the attack.
He added: “It is a terrible thing. Terrible thing. So our hearts go out to the people of Wisconsin and to the families,” he added. Speaking at a White House press conference on the coronavirus outbreak, Donald Trump expressed his condolences.
Police responded to what they called a “critical incident” on the campus on West State Street in the north-west part of the city. The police department tweeted: “There is no active threat; however, this scene is still an active.” “It is a terrible thing. Terrible thing. So our hearts go out to the people of Wisconsin and to the families,”Trump said.

It occurred at a sprawling complex that includes a mix of corporate offices and brewing facilities. At least 600 people work at the complex, which is widely known in the Milwaukee area as Miller Valley, a reference to the Miller brewing company that is now part of Molson Coors. The Molson Coors CEO, Gavin Hattersley, called the shooter “an active brewery employee”.
“Unfortunately, I am devastated to share that we lost five other members of our family in this tragic incident,” he said in a statement. “There are no words to express the deep sadness many of us are feeling right now.”
He said the office would be closed the rest of the week and the brewery shuttered “for the time being” to give people time to cope.
