Russian news agency Sputnik has reported that police have entered its Istanbul office. Meanwhile, it is confirmed that Sputnik Turkey's editor-in-chief has been detained. Istanbul police have detained the head of the Turkish branch of Russian news outlet Sputnik. Their colleagues in Ankara deny having in custody three employees of the agency, who have been missing since Saturday.

This new development brings the number of detained Sputnik employees in Turkey to four. Earlier three agency staff members, who had been targeted by Turkish nationalists on Saturday and turned to police for help, ended up in custody. Sputnik’s office in Istanbul is being searched by the city police, Simonyan said. No immediate reason for the search has been given.
The homes of Sputnik employees in Ankara were attacked by groups of Turkish nationalists in seemingly coordinated acts of harassment. The employees were not hurt and went to the police to file complaints, after which all contact with them was lost. Earlier, three staff members for the news agency, who had been targeted by Turkish nationalists on Saturday and turned to the Ankara police for help, went missing. It was presumed they had been taken into custody, but according to Simonyan, the police have denied any knowledge of their whereabouts.
However, reports from Turkish media on Sunday said the Turkish authorities did arrest three Sputnik employees over an article published by the English-language branch of the Russian network a day earlier, further confusing the situation.
A correspondent for RIA Novosti in Ankara said the three people were spotted on Sunday morning at the city’s hall of justice, where they were set to testify before a prosecutor. It was not immediately clear whether the prosecutor was interested in their accounts of the nationalists’ attacks against them, or whether they required some other information.
