Man held after car strikes house Man escapes after car hits house

A man has been detained after a car crashed into a house in Clackmannanshire causing substantial damage. A man has escaped unharmed after a car smashed through his bedroom wall overnight causing major damage.

Officers said there were people inside the house at the time, but that no-one had been injured. Walter Preston, 72, was in bed when the car crashed through the wall. He managed to clamber out of the house and escaped uninjured.
A police spokesman said confirmed that a man had been detained. The car will remain in place in case moving it causes the house to collapse. An 18-year-old man has been detained.
Mr Preston told BBC Scotland: "Last night I was in bed watching the television and the next thing there was a bang and bricks and dust were flying all about the place.
"When I turned round the car was in the bedroom.
Mr Preston said his bed was pushed across the room"The bed was pushed towards the other end of the room and when I managed to get out of bed I turned and saw the car.
"I got up and tried to get out, the room door was all jammed with furniture all pushed against it, so I had to shift some of the furniture to the side and squeeze out.
"I managed to get out of the room and out of the house because I thought it was going to collapse."
Mr Preston said that when he got out he realised his dog was still in the property, so he ran back in to get her.
He said he would be staying with his daughter while the damage to the property was being assessed.
