Severe winds have hit parts of south west Scotland causing damage and closing some roads.

Dumfries and Galloway, and coastal parts of North Ayrshire and South Aryshire were affected.

Part of the roof of Stranraer Academy was blown off overnight and landed on nearby houses as winds reached up to 70mph.

The main A77 Stranraer to Glasgow road and several minor roads were also closed by fallen trees.
