Three people have died in a house fire in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. A murder investigation has been launched after three people were found dead following a house fire in Hertfordshire.
The two women and a man were pronounced dead at the property in Stuarts Close shortly after police were called at about 12:30 BST on Sunday. Two women, aged 50 and 24, and a 57-year-old man were pronounced dead at the property in Stuarts Close, Hemel Hempstead, at about 12:30 BST on Sunday.
A joint police and fire investigation has been launched. Police said it was believed to be an isolated incident.
Det Insp Iain MacPherson, from the Beds, Cambs and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the three people who have sadly died. A joint investigation with the fire service is under way.
"Detectives are investigating the circumstances and forensic officers and the fire investigation team are at the location as part of this." Det Insp Iain MacPherson, from the Beds, Cambs and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said his thoughts were with those affected, adding: "Our early inquiries have led us to believe there is no threat to the wider community."
Neighbour Peter Downer saw smoke coming from the bathroom at the front of the four-bedroom house in Stuarts Close and raised the alarm.
Mr Downer, 67, said: "We called the fire brigade when I saw smoke coming from the toilet. We were shocked when we heard what happened.
"They were a quiet family and had lived here for a long time."
