Robbers target homes of elderly

A number of elderly people have been left badly shaken after their homes were ransacked and robbed in Belfast.

Around 1815 GMT on Monday two men forced their way into a house in Amcomri Street in Beechmount, west Belfast, and stole a sum of cash.

Similar incidents occurred at houses in Whitewell Road and Carnalea Place in north Belfast.

In the last incident in Iris Street, close to Springfield Road, the men left empty-handed.

The police said the elderly residents where at home at the time of robberies.
