A 17-year-old boy was shot three times in a targeted attack as he cycled through a park in Manchester.

The teenager was with two friends at Longford Park on Edge Lane in Stretford on Friday night when he was shot in the back, stomach and legs.

He was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery for his injuries. The teenager's condition is described as "comfortable", police said.

A police spokesman said they believed the attack "was not a random incident".

He added: "The investigation is at an early stage, but at the moment officers believe this is not linked to any other shooting incidents."

Witnesses are being urged to come forward.
