Phase 2 - Indoor visiting & outdoor markets (18 June) Phase 2 (starting 18 June) - Meeting more people & shops reopen
You can meet family and friends outside involving larger groups. You will also be able to meet people from another household indoors. In both scenarios, physical distancing and appropriate hygiene will need to be maintained. From 19 June you can meet people from two different households outside - but still in groups of no more than eight people. Physical distancing and appropriate hygiene will need to be maintained. People who are shielding can go outdoors for exercise and meet people from one other household.
Remote working where possible remains the default position. Public transport will increase but still be limited due to distancing requirements. Travelling at peak times will not be recommended. There will be some geographical differences to this approach depending on circumstances. People who live on their own, or only with children, are allowed to form an extended group and meet people from one other household indoors, with no physical distancing, and stay overnight.
On-campus lab research restarts with physical distancing and indoor non-office based workplaces can resume, including factories and warehouses. Remote working where possible remains the default position. Public transport will increase but still be limited due to distancing requirements, and it will be mandatory to wear face coverings on public transport, including taxis, from Monday 22 June.
Smaller shops can reopen along with outdoor markets. Playgrounds and sports courts will reopen with physical distancing and professional sport will resume. Pubs and restaurants can open outdoor spaces. Places of worship can reopen for private prayer from that date, and marriages and civil partnerships can take place outdoors with a limited numbers of attendees. Dentists can see patients with urgent care needs.

A decision will be taken on or around 2 July about whether pubs and restaurants will be able to open outdoor spaces, such as beer gardens.
