Ruane to reveal transfer plans

Education Minister CaitrÃona Ruane is to reveal her plans on how children should transfer from primary schools from 2010 onwards to the Assembly.

Last week, the minister failed to get the Executive to approve a phasing out of academic selection.

In the absence of legislation, it is understood the minister will issue guidelines, which will not be legally binding, to schools.

Many grammar schools have said they will run their own admission tests.
