Sigel was travelling from Sydney to the NSW north coast with his mother when they stopped in a carpark in Heatherbrae near Port Stephens, for a rest. About 10.30pm police were called to the scene after the teenager walked off and failed to return. The teenager walked off about 9.15pm and police were called when he failed to return.
Despite an extensive search of the area by local police and dog squads officers were unable to find the boy overnight. More crews have been brought in to continue the search Wednesday. Police have described Darshan as being about 180cm tall, with a thin build, and sandy blonde hair. He was last seen wearing a pink hooded jumper covered by a black jacket, black pants, and yellow shoes. The search was called off when the teenager arrived at his Katoomba school on Wednesday morning.
Anyone in the area who sees him has been urged to call triple zero.
