Mr Friedlander said he tried to question the attacker who "just blanked me and wouldn't say anything". Appealing for more witnesses, the Met Police said the victim had been attacked "in a bank in Stoke Newington High Street" but did not say which bank.
The victim's injuries are not life-changing or life-threatening.
Det Sgt James Tipple said he had "suffered multiple stab wounds in what was a horrific incident" which would "undoubtedly stay with him for a long time to come".
