One child is being treated in intensive care. It is understood that the children had been staying with their grandmother. A five-year-old girl is in a critical condition and the others are stable at the Royal Victoria Hospital. Three other adults were treated for injuries.
William Laverty, of the Fire and Rescue Service, said she had been awoken by her fire alarm and raised the alert. The children had been staying with their grandmother who raised the alert after her fire alarm went off.
"The two fathers of the children had rescued four of the children and attempted, unfortunately in vain, to get to the fifth child because of the thick, acrid smoke they just could not get into the house," Mr Laverty said.
