Emotional fan Charlie Cooper, 48, said it was "a bit to take in".
"To go so long and come so close, it is a relief more than anything," he said.
Six-year-old Anthony Nesbitt, went to Anfield with his father Anthony, mother Marilyn, as well as a cardboard cut-out of Liverpool star Sadio Mane.
The family, who live nearby, had been in Stanley Park as the Manchester City match was played.
"This is amazing, especially for them. We've been waiting 30 years for it," Ms Nesbitt said.
Several celebrities, including comedian John Bishop and basketball star LeBron James, posted celebrations online after the title was sealed.
