Version 0 of 1.

A 17-year-old youth has appeared in court charged with assaulting five school girls at railway stations in County Antrim.

The boy, who cannot be named, faced five charges of carrying out aggravated assaults at Carrickfergus and Whitehead stations.

He was also charged with false imprisonment, making threats to kill and attempted robbery.

All the alleged offences happened over a period of three weeks last month.

The accused cannot be named because of his age.

A defence solicitor told Belfast Magistrates Court the boy has severe mental health difficulties. The lawyer said the defendant had admitted all the charges.

He said the boy lifted the girls and dropped them, but none of them were injured.

The district judge refused bail. The teenager was remanded in custody for a week.
