Lengthy queue for London Zoo jobs
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/england/london/7884295.stm Version 0 of 1. An offer of 50 seasonal jobs at the London Zoo in Regent's Park has drawn record queues of people eager to fill the posts. A Zoological Society of London (ZSL) spokeswoman said the posts normally draw between 120 and 150 applicants. But Wednesday's open-house application process drew an estimated 400 people who queued for hours. The jobs, which run throughout the zoo's high season, pay between £8.80 and £10 an hour. Most of the work on offer is in the retail side of running the zoo, either in the gift shop or the canteen. None of the seasonal jobs include working with the animals, the spokeswoman said. The zoo, one of London's most popular attractions with more than 1.3m visitors each year, employs 300 permanent staff. |
