'Angry' pensioner escapes gang | |

An 82-year-old woman who escaped from a masked gang in her County Armagh home and ran across a road to call for help said "anger" made her able to do it. | |
Janet Jeanette was in her Tandragee home on Wednesday evening when five men entered, claiming to be policemen. | |
"I said 'you're not the police, you haven't got a yellow jacket and he said we're special police, we're looking for drugs'", said Mrs Jeanette. | |
While the gang ransacked her home, Mrs Jeanette ran out and raised the alarm. | |
"It was anger that got me going. I can't walk very well," she said. | |
Mrs Jeanette then ran across the the road to a pub to get help. | |
While the landlord rang the police and Mrs Jeanette's son, customers quickly ran to the house. | |
The gang, however, had already escaped. | |
Police have appealed for information about the incident, which happened about 2000 GMT in The Square area of the town. | |
Councillor William Irwin said it was an "horrific incident and a terrible ordeal". | |
