Police negotiators have been working through the night to persuade a man to come down from a supermarket store roof. A man who climbed on to the roof of a supermarket has been detained after being brought to safety.
The man climbed on to the roof of the Asda building in Main Road, Harwich on Tuesday evening, Essex Police said. Police negotiators worked through the night to persuade the man to come down from the roof of the Asda building in Main Road, Harwich.
Officers are continuing to talk to the man and the store is currently shut. Essex Police said the man had scaled the building on Tuesday evening, forcing it to close as cordons were put up around the area.
"We are working with our partners and the store management as we deal with this incident," police said. The reasons why the man climbed on to the roof remain unknown.
