A five-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a van, police have confirmed. A five-year-old boy has died after being hit by a van in Newcastle.
The vehicle was towing a trailer with a digger on it when it struck the boy in Newcastle. Layton Darwood was fatally injured when he was struck by the Ford Transit in Willow Avenue, Fenham, on Monday evening, and later died in hospital.
The boy was taken from the scene, in Willow Avenue, Fenham, to hospital where he later died, Northumbria Police said. The vehicle was believed to be towing a trailer with a digger on it at the time of the crash just before 17:00 BST.
