Grouse shooting and hunting with guns has been given the green light, while the status of trail hunting remains unclear Grouse shooting, hunting with guns and trail hunting – which replicates a traditional hunt but without the intention of chasing a live fox – have been exempted from the government’s “rule of six” coronavirus regulations in England, along with other outdoor activities. Earlier this month, the government was accused of stalling plans for a moorland burning ban, amid growing concern over the destruction of peatland on grouse moors from heather burning.
