Two rescued after car hits house

Two people had to be rescued by firefighters after a car crashed into a three-storey townhouse in the Ruchill area of Glasgow.

The emergency services were called to the scene in Mayfield Street at about 1145 GMT.

The driver and passenger of the car managed to free themselves but the two occupants in the house had to be rescued by ladder.

No-one was injured. Firefighters and police remained at the scene.

Building control workers from Glasgow City Council have been called in to check the stability of the house.
