Gunman steals 'substantial sum'

An armed robber has stolen what police have said was a substantial amount of money from a grocery store in south Belfast.

At about 2025 GMT on Tuesday the man, who was armed with what appeared to be a handgun, entered the shop at Botanic Avenue.

He threatened a member of staff before escaping with the cash.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the robbery or has any information about it to contact them.
