Brian McCrerie, of Moniaive, Dumfries and Galloway, is suspected to have had a heart attack on Sunday night. His daughter Lauren, 18, was one of three young people killed in a road crash in Herefordshire on Saturday. Mr McCrerie had travelled south to make funeral arrangements and completed his journey back home safely but died later in his sleep. Lauren McCrerie, who lived in Hereford, was killed in the accident on the A49 near Much Birch at about 2015 GMT on Saturday. She was a passenger in a Rover car involved in the crash, which also claimed two other lives. The other victims were driver Neil Smith, 20, of Staunton-on-Wye, and passenger Ryan Vincent, 16, of Hereford. After learning of his daughter's death, forestry contractor Mr McCrerie, who was aged in his 50s, drove south the following day to help with the funeral arrangements. |
