The 56-year-old man was arrested after the girl, who is from Hillingdon, made the complaint. Hillingdon Council confirmed the arrest and said the teacher has taught at several schools. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said the man, who has not been charged with an offence, has been bailed to attend a police station in west London in May. A council spokesperson said: "We can confirm we are aware that the police are investigating a serious allegation made against a former teacher, who taught at a number of schools, including one in Hillingdon." She said the council is working closely with the police for the investigation and offering support to children, parents and staff at the school. It has referred the man to the Independent Safeguarding Authority, intended to stop unsuitable people from working with children and vulnerable adults. |
