Algerian-born Yasmine Larbi-Cherif, 22, and younger sister Sabrina, 19, were found dead at Jupiter Apartments in Birmingham last September. Mohammed Ali admitted their manslaughter by reason of provocation but pleaded not guilty to their murder at Birmingham Crown Court. The 28-year-old, of Old Snow Hill, Birmingham, was remanded in custody and will stand trial in May. The sisters were British nationals and had only lived in the flat for a few weeks. Both died of stab wounds, tests revealed. Prosecutor Naomi Gilchrist confirmed that the Crown would continue to pursue a trial for two counts of murder despite Ali pleading guilty to manslaughter. He is accused of murdering Yasmine and Sabrina at some point between 12 and 15 September last year. |
