New Cornwall home for sea lions

Diego and Noito, have travelled to the centre in Gweek from a sea mammal centre in Benidorm in Spain where space has become limited. They are filling the gap left by Carus the sea lion who died in 2008 after 20 years at the sanctuary. The pair will share their new home with the sanctuary's blind Californian sea lion Rocky. Senior animal care assistant Clare McGowan said: "From past experience Rocky seems to relish any new company, and we don't think it will be long before they're all splashing around happily." Once safely settled in the sanctuary staff are planning a proper South American welcome for them on 2 April, with pinatas, pan pipes and themed fancy dress. |
