The GDP rate went into positive territory last month after the year-on-year decline seen in January and February, when the Russian economy shrank 2.2% and 2.5% respectively, according to the official report published on Tuesday evening. The performance of the Russian economy in the first three months of 2021 has improved compared to the end of last year. Earlier this year, both the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank raised their outlook for the Russian economy for 2021. The former positively revised its forecast for the second time, now expecting Russia’s GDP to expand 3.8%.
