Hundreds of Tamil protesters are continuing a rally outside Parliament demanding the UK government acts to end war in Sri Lanka. Scores of police officers have stepped in to move on hundreds of Tamils who have staged a 20-hour protest outside Parliament, sparking minor scuffles.
Minor scuffles broke out as police officers moved demonstrators, who had camped out overnight, off the road and into the centre of Parliament Square. Protesters demanding the UK government acts to end war in Sri Lanka were boxed in by police and moved off the road and into the centre of Parliament Square.

Many of the protesters are carrying banners with slogans such as "Stop Sri Lanka's Genocide of Tamils", chanting or banging drums. Arani Ananthathevan, a 22-year-old student, says she has not heard from her cousins and an uncle in Sri Lanka since January and does not know whether they are dead or alive.
"Each day the Tamil media release a list of the dead which we check to see if their name is on there," she said.
