Three people have been charged with robbery following an incident in east London which left an armed police officer with life-threatening injuries. The male officer, aged 30, was sent to a report of aggravated burglary at a property in Dagenham on Saturday. Following a car chase, the policeman was injured in a street in Newham. Mansour-Jacques Jallow, 26, Temitope Iyiola, 19, and Mary Fowler, 21, will appear at Waltham Forest Magistrates' Court on Monday. Mr Jallow and Mr Iyiola, both of no fixed address, along with Ms Fowler, of Ibex House, Forest Lane, east London, all face charges of robbery. Armed officers attempted to stop a vehicle in Stratford, east London, sometime after 0600 BST on Saturday. They then followed the car to Ashlin Road in Newham, where the policeman got out of his vehicle and was critically injured. Commander Maxine De Brunner, from the Metropolitan Police, said: "At this time it has not been established how the officer received these injuries but we have no reports of any shots fired." The Met Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson has been among the visitors to the hospital where the officer is being treated for head injuries. |
