The DUP's Nigel Dodds welcomed the move as a "first step" but said there had to be delivery, not just words. DUP leader Ian Paisley said the decision to call a conference was "a step forward".
This would have to be done unconditionally, Mr Dodds said. He said it would only be movement when there was delivery on the ground.
"Instead Sinn Fein are saying that this policy will not be implemented until such times as there is an executive and an assembly up and running and frankly that is unacceptable - there has to be delivery on the ground." "The question is do they intend to proceed with offering support to the police and the courts and encouraging their supporters to do so as soon as the motion is passed?" he said.
"The DUP will not be moving until there is full delivery on the ground and the DUP will not be found wanting if there is."
