Peter Lawrence made a direct appeal to whoever has taken his daughter to search their conscience. The investigation in to her disappearance is being treated as one of suspected murder. Police want to speak to two men seen outside Miss Lawrence's home in Heworth Road on 10 March. She was last seen near her home on 18 March and failed to arrive for her early morning shift at the University of York's Goodricke College the following day. You know who you are. Search your conscience. We want Claudia back Peter Lawrence Mr Lawrence, 62, said: "It is now 50 days that Claudia has been away from us. "The longer it goes on, the worse it gets for myself, the family and her friends. "The strain is intolerable and the sorrow unbearable. "I want to make yet another appeal to whoever is responsible for taking her away from her life in York to come forward so that she can be reunited with all of us who love her dearly. "You know who you are. Search your conscience. We want Claudia back." On Wednesday, police released more details of two men, who are thought to be Asian, they want to trace. Thousands of calls The fresh information came to light after a witness came forward following an earlier appeal. A police spokesman said one of the men seen outside Miss Lawrence's front door "was looking towards the downstairs window, even though the curtains are always drawn, while the second male was looking up at the first floor window". Searches for Miss Lawrence have taken place across York The spokesman said one of the men was described as 5ft 5in to 5ft 6in tall, with a distinctive, long, thin face with a pointy nose and dark circles under his eyes. He had dark, straight hair with a fringe, was aged in his 20s to early 30s, and was wearing what appeared to be a heavy coat, even though it was a hot day. The second male was of a heavier build, 5ft 7in to 5ft 8in tall, wearing a waist-length jacket and jeans that had rivets around the back pockets. The spokesman said: "Police are appealing for anyone who saw these men in the area of Claudia's house or for the men themselves to come forward as they may have been at the house for an entirely innocent reason." He said there had been more than 1,000 calls to the incident room, about 1,270 properties had been searched and the investigation had generated 1,096 reports and statements since Miss Lawrence was reported missing on 20 March. |
