A body which was found in woodland last week has been identified as that of a teacher who went missing 10 months ago.

Sarah Flooks, 50, was last seen near her home in Wanstead, east London, after leaving for work on 2 March.

Her body was discovered in woods in Wanstead Park which were not searched by police when she disappeared.

Forensic experts have been scouring the area where the body was found and post-mortem tests have so far failed to reveal how she died.

Ms Flooks' body was discovered on Thursday near the ornamental lakes, which is less than a mile from where she lived.

A police spokesman said they had not searched the particular area of woodland where the body was found but all remaining parkland was covered during a large-scale operation.

Having seen the way the police dealt with the inquiry I am certainly not impressed Tim Flooks Police are treating the death as "unexplained" and further examinations are being carried out to discover how she died.

Relatives of Ms Flooks have criticised the police investigation describing it as "bumbling along".

Her brother Tim said: "Having seen the way the police dealt with the inquiry I am certainly not impressed."

Ms Flooks' sisters were understood to be comforting their mother at the family home in Bridgwater in Somerset.

Last March, Ms Flooks left home heading for Monega Primary School in nearby Forest Gate where she worked.

She had left a scribbled note for her partner saying she would ring later that day - a call she never made.

The last sighting of her was less than an hour later when she was seen by a former colleague walking in Aldersbrook Road, towards Manor Park.
